Zusammenfassung Es wird gezeigt, dass Histamin auch durch das Aufreissen des Imidazolringes im Vormagen von Schafen katabolisiert werden kann. C¹⁴-markiertes Histamin wurde in den Pansen des Schafes oral eingeführt und annähernd 30% davon in der Atmungsluft (CO₂) aufgefangen.     

Growth response of nodule bacteria to phytohemogglutanin

Zusammenfassung Es wird gezeigt, dass kristallines Phytohaemagglutanin (PHA) oder Rohextrakt aus PHA enthaltenden Zuckerbohnen (Phaseolus vulgaris) das Wachstum vonRhizobium dadurch beeinflusst, dass die Lagphase der Wachstumskurve verkürzt, die logarithmische Phase aber verlängert wird. Die PHA-Wirkung ist deutlicher bei denRhizobium-Linien, die in den Wurzelknöllchen des Wirts an PHA nicht adaptiert sind.     

Ion-solvent interaction: Viscosity,apparent molar volume and conductivity of univalent electrolytes in dioxanewater mixtures at different temperatures

Summary The viscosity, apparent molar volume and conductivity of NaCl, KCl, NaBr, KBr, NaNO₃ and KNO₃ solutions at mass fraction of dioxane (10, 20 and 30%)-water mixtures at 30–45°C±0.01°C have been measured. The ions appear to interact appreciably, and the ion-solvent interaction is of the order NO₃ ^–>Br^–>Cl^–.     

Immunization of mice against transplantable tumor

Zusammenfassung Nach i.p. Injektionen von mit Tween 80 behandelten Ehrlich-Lettré Ascites Krebszellen immunisierten Mäusen ergab sich bei diesen eine Widerstandsfähigkeit gegenüber Transplantaten von lebensfähigen Tumorzellen, woraus geschlossen wird, dass diese Behandlung die spezifischen Antigene der Zelloberfläche freisetzt.

Blood 5-hydroxytryptamine in rats with pulmonary hypertension produced by ingestion ofCrotalaria spectabilis seeds

Zusammenfassung Der pulmonare Blutdruck in Ratten kann durch Abfütterung vonCrotalaria spectabilis erhöht werden, ohne die Konzentration des plasmafreien und an die Thrombozyten gebundenen 5-Hydroxytryptamins zu verändern.     

Mutations in the V2 vasopressin receptor gene are associated with X-linked nephrogenic diabetes insipidus.

X-linked nephrogenic diabetes insipidus (NDI) is a rare disorder in which the kidney is insensitive to the antidiuretic hormone, vasopressin. It has been proposed that the kidney-specific V2 vasopressin receptor, a G protein-coupled receptor, is defective in this disorder as both the disease and the receptor map to Xq28. We report six unique mutations in the V2 receptor gene of five unrelated NDI patients, with one patient having two mutations. The most severely affected patient has a nonsense mutation which would terminate the protein in transmembrane domain III. Other mutations include three missense mutations, a frameshift and one small in-frame deletion. These results represent one of the first examples of recessive mutations affecting a G protein-coupled receptor.
